I
barely got a movie and I think this movie was really cool.
This
is my review:
The
genre of this movie is comedy. Different from any other movies with the same
genre, this one lifted up the long last universal yet essential ideas:
Religion.
Perhaps,
it wasn’t the first movie to come out with ideas of diversity in religion and
how one of other confessors has different way to manifest their God, but I
think this one was the first that harmoniously balance us to see the existence
of God without labels that people put on it, no matter our religion is. This
movie really has many symbols that change how common people are analogically understand
that God should be understood and believed as the ‘God” itself, not every
single thing that is adhered by each of the worshiper. Furthermore, this movie
is simply sharing the ideas of “Looking for (The Right) God” as a free man.
Here
are some ideas to jump me in some conclusions.
- The first scene where he came to earth in nakedness with precious necklace as a way back to his planet. OK, I will just put aside the hot body of Amir Khan as an exclusion. I will see this scene as the symbol of person who is really pure, similar with a new born baby. We have no social influence and capable to independently see things clearly and the necklace is the symbol of precious thought that need to look for.
- The great ideas also depict in various scenes when he looked for God in asking for help. On top of them when he searched for a baby to find a sign to decide what kind of religion the baby has, so he can find the real God. For me, this is the symbol that God seems like that baby; pure and flawsless. That is how we should looking for God, we should totally free from any thought, influence and really begin from ‘zero’ to find God itself.
- The ideas when he looked for God by trying all religion’s activity, ceremonies, prayers and holy book in order to find ‘The God that people around said” to get his necklace back without understand what for those actions are, he got the false conclusion that God has sent the wrong answers for his prayer. I thought that every scene to show this out was totally smart! His questions were simply simple but touch the basic curiosity of people in asking their need to know what kind of God they trust, what kind of God that will listening their prayers and what kind of the true God beside of any other Gods out there. From all of the scenes, I preferred into one scene where the PK showed how frightened people by condition created by People rather than God.
- The last was about the idea of how different color just simply separated religion from one into another. This different looked really simple but when it’s used no more as ‘only’ color but as a symbol, it would lead you into the 'wrong number'. This simple scene was totally crumbling my tummy and brighten me in the same time.
Here
are just my points of view toward this movie, and I feel like this movie is
really good to watch by anybody. As the literature student once, I feel a bit
embarrassed by this review, because this is really thousand times shallow
without using any approaches as I used to write in “Literary Criticism” class. :)
P.S
: I write this down because I want to re-read it someday in the future and feel
‘great’ to tell myself that I ever think about this movie more!
